The Binghamton Senators jumped out to a quick start, scoring three goals in the first period en route to defeating the Manchester Monarchs 4-1 Friday night. Andre Petersson gave the B-Sens’ an early lead with a goal just 1:46 into the game. Mike Hoffman and Mike Bartlett added first period power play goals for Binghamton. Patrick Mullen put Manchester on the board with just 55.5 seconds remaining in the first. Eric Gryba scored an empty net goal with 1:23 remaining in regulation to seal the victory for the B-Sens. Jeff Zatkoff stopped 22 of 25 shots he faced in goal for Manchester and Robin Lehner earned the win for Binghamton by turning away 27 of 28 shots.
 
Saturday, Dec 3: Binghamton 1, Worcester 2
Shots: Binghamton 22, Worcester 35
PP: Binghamton 0 for 1, Worcester 1 for 4
 
The B-Sens traveled to Worcester, dropping a one-goal game to the Sharks on Saturday night. Though neither team was able to find the back of the net through the game’s first two periods, the offense woke up in the final frame for three total goals. Pat Cannone’s goal midway through the third gave Binghamton a 1-0 lead. Tommy Wingels’ power play goal four minutes later tied the game for the Sharks. Ryan Del Monte scored the game winner for Worcester in the final five minutes of regulation. Tyson Sexsmith turned away 21 of 22 shots for the Sharks while Mike McKenna stopped 33 of 35 in net for Binghamton.
 
Sunday, Dec 4: Binghamton 4, Connecticut 3

PP: Binghamton 1 for 4, Connecticut 1 for 1
 
The B-Sens completed a stretch of three games in three nights as they defeated the Connecticut Whale in Hartford on Sunday. Mats Zuccarello and Andreas Thuresson gave Connecticut a 2-0 lead in the first, but Rob Klinkhammer, Andre Petersson and Derek Grant countered with goals for Binghamton in the second period to take control of the game, 3-2. Zuccarello scored his second of the game with 1:10 remaining in the middle frame to tie the score at three. Petersson scored the lone goal of the third period, his second of the game, which proved to be the game-winner. Cameron Talbot stopped 30 of 34 shots in goal for the Whale, while Robin Lehner earned the win in net for Binghamton by turning aside 23 of 26.   
 
Record:9-13-1-1
 
Standings:The B-Sens are in fifth place in the East Division (20 points).

The Binghamton Senators welcome the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena tonight for a mid-week matchup, before making the trip down I-81 on Tuesday to visit the Penguins. Tonight’s match will be the fifth of ten meetings between the two teams this season. 
 
The Penguins hold a record of 12-7-1-4 and are currently tied with the Hershey Bears and Norfolk Admirals for first place in the East Division with 29 points. 
 
Bryan Lerg (9+9=18), Colin McDonald (5+13=18) and Ben Street (7+11=18) are tied for the team lead in points. 
 
Friday, Dec. 9 vs. Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning) – 7:05 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 10 vs. Norfolk Admirals – 7:05 p.m.
 
The B-Sens will host the Norfolk Admirals for the first time this season in back-to-back games this weekend. The Admirals and B-Sens split a pair of games in Norfolk earlier this season. The Admirals defeated the B-Sens 7-0 on Oct. 21, but Binghamton rebounded with a 3-2 shootout win on Oct. 22.   
 
The Admirals enter the week with a record of 14-9-0-1 and are tied with Hershey and Wilkes-Barre for first place in the East Division with 29 points. 
 
Cory Conacher (12+13=25) and Trevor Smith (10+15=25) lead the Admirals in points. Conacher’s points rank him first overall in scoring among American Hockey League rookies. 
 
SENS SNIPPETS…
 
With his goal in Friday’s 4-1 win over Manchester, forward Andre Petersson extended his point scoring streak to seven straight games, the longest point scoring streak of any B-Sens’ player so far this season. Petersson ranks second overall on the B-Sens, first among Binghamton rookies, in scoring with 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 22 games played.
 
Goaltender Brian Stewart, currently on loan to Binghamton’s ECHL affiliate Elmira Jackals, has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 28 to Dec. 4. During that week he posted a record of 4-0-0-0 with a save percentage of .937 and a goals-against average of 1.88. Stewart dressed as the B-Sens’ back-up goaltender for four games this season, but did not play.
 
B-SENS BRINGING IT HOME TO THE COMMUNITY…
 
The Binghamton Senators will host the annual “Teddy Bear Toss” at the Friday, Dec. 9 game versus the Norfok Admirals. Fans are asked to bring new teddy bears or stuffed animals to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena and toss them onto the ice immediately following the B-Sens’ first goal scored in the game. Stuffed animals collected will be donated to Magic 101.7’s Bears and Blankets program.
 
Saturday, Dec. 10 versus the Norfolk Admirals is Paws for Cause Night. Dickin Memorial Animal Hospital will debut the 2012 Binghamton Senators Paws for Cause calendar which features photos of B-Sens players, coaches and staff members with their family pets or pets from the area shelters. Calendars can be purchased for $20. Fans will also have the opportunity to bid on pet bowls hand painted by their favorite B-Sens players and coaches. All auction and calendar proceeds will benefit the Broome County Humane Society and Project P.A.W.
 
On Monday, Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. Tim Conboy, Mike Hoffman, Corey Locke, Mike McKenna, Mark Parrish and Patrick Wiercioch will appear at the Oakdale Mall (601-635 Harry L Drive, Johnson City) for a special pet donation drive. Fans that bring a donation to benefit one of the area shelters will have the opportunity to meet some of their favorite B-Sens players and have their 2012 Binghamton Senators Paws for Cause calendars autographed.  For more information and a list of acceptable donations please visit www.binghamtonsenators.com.
