B-SENS BRINGING IT HOME TO THE COMMUNITY…

The mission of the Toys for Tots program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year to distribute as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. Broome County Toys for Tots has been operated by the Binghamton police department with the assistance of the Endicott, Johnson City and Vestal police departments for over 42 years. Nearly 3,000 Broome County children receive toys each Christmas through the community-based organization.

Also this week the B-Sens, in conjunction with Magic 101.7 will host the annual “Teddy Bear Toss” at the B-Sens game versus the Syracuse Crunch this Sunday, Dec. 2.

Fans are asked to bring new teddy bears or stuffed animals to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena and toss them onto the ice immediately following the B-Sens’ first goal scored in the game.

The stuffed animals will then be collected by members of the Southern Tier Young Professionals, Magic 101.7 and the Binghamton Senators staff and then donated to Magic 101.7’s Bears and Blankets program.

Magic 101.7’s Tejay Schwartz and Lisa Marie along with other Binghamton Senators players will then team up to deliver the stuffed animals to children in local hospitals, as well as other children in need throughout the Greater Binghamton area during the holiday season.

This is the fifth season the Binghamton Senators have assisted Magic 101.7 in collecting donations for their Bears & Blankets program. In those four seasons Magic 101.7 has distributed over 10,000 stuffed animals and blankets to local hospitals and charities.
