OTTAWA RECALLS LEHNER, LOCKE; RE-ASSIGNS BRODEUR, O*BRIEN TO B-SENS

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - The Ottawa Senators today recalled goaltender Robin Lehner and forward Corey Locke on an emergency basis from the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Lehner replaces Pascal Leclaire, while Locke replaces Alex Kovalev. The Senators also re-assigned goaltender Mike Brodeur and forward Jim O'Brien to Binghamton.

Locke, 26, currently leads the AHL in scoring with 55 points on 15 goals and 40 assists in 38 games with the B-Sens. On Tuesday, Locke was named to the Eastern Conference roster for the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic for the fifth time in his career (2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010). The Toronto native has appeared in four career NHL games, including three with the New York Rangers during the 2009-10 season and one with the Montreal Canadiens in 2007-08.

Locke has skated in 504 career AHL games in seven seasons with Binghamton, the Hartford Wolf Pack, Hamilton Bulldogs and Houston Aeros, registering 156 goals and 292 assists for 448 points, along with 319 penalty minutes.

Originally drafted by the Canadiens in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Locke played three seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's Ottawa 67's from 2001-02 to 2003-04. During his time with the 67's, he won the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL's most outstanding player in both 2003 and 2004, while being named the Canadian Hockey League's most outstanding player in 2003. In 186 career OHL games, all with Ottawa, Locke scored 132 goals and added 180 assists for 312 points.

Lehner, 19, served as the backup to Brian Elliott on nine occasions this season, most recently on Jan. 8 in Ottawa's 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He made his NHL debut against Montreal on Oct. 16, stopping all three shots in the first 4:42 of the third period, while Elliott replaced his broken skates. Lehner also came in to replace Elliott on Oct. 18, making seven saves on as many shots in the final 29:28 of a 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

A native of Goteborg, Sweden, Lehner has a record of 5-5-1 with a 2.65 goals-against-average and .912 save percentage in 12 games with the B-Sens this season. He earned his first professional shutout, making 33 saves in a 5-0 home win over the Syracuse Crunch on Nov. 7.

Lehner recently returned to Binghamton after being loaned to Sweden's national junior team for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo, N.Y. Sweden finished fourth at the 10-team tournament. In three games at the world juniors, Lehner earned a record of 2-0-1, including a 2-0 shutout victory (30 saves) over Russia on Dec. 28 and a 6-5 shootout win over Canada on Dec. 31.

Brodeur, 27, has made two NHL appearances this season, stopping 23 of the 26 shots he has faced. He has served as back-up to Elliott on seven occasions this season.

O'Brien, 21, was recalled to Ottawa on Dec. 31 and made his NHL debut later that day in the Senators' 4-3 overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has recorded no points or penalty minutes in three NHL games this season.
