DRUMMONDVILLE, Q.C. – The Binghamton Senators fell to the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-3 on Saturday night at the Centre Marcel-Dionne in Drummondville, Quebec. Brian Willsie scored the game-winning goal for the Bulldogs on a power play with just 18.9 seconds remaining in the game.
The B-Sens opened the scoring just 4:08 into the first period as Corey Cowick backhanded a shot over Bulldogs’ goaltender Robert Mayer.
Hamilton rebounded, scoring a trio of goals in the second half of the opening frame to take a commanding lead. Philip DeSimone beat B-Sens’ goaltender Mike McKenna at 11:33 to tied the game at one. Josh McFadden gave Hamilton their first lead of the game at 14:45 as his quick wrister made it 2-1. Gabriel Dumont capitalized on a Bulldogs power play with just 2:14 remaining in the first to send his team to the dressing room with the 3-1 lead.
The B-Sens pulled within one, as Jim O’Brien tipped in a Bobby Raymond shot to make it 3-2 at 16:11 of the second.
With just over two minutes remaining in the period, Binghamton tied the game 3-3 as Kyle Reeds snapped a quick shot under the crossbar.
At 19:41 of the third, Hamilton’s Brock Trotter fed Willsie who then one-timed the game-winner past McKenna.
The Binghamton Senators conclude the preseason on Monday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. as they travel to Hershey to face the Bears. Grady Whittenburg will have the call live from the Giant Center on “Binghamton’s Classic Hits” BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM), beginning at 6:55 p.m.
