SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators saw a two game winning streak come to a halt tonight in Syracuse as they fell 4-1 at the hands of the Crunch.
Nick Bonino scored a pair of goals and added an assist for the Crunch, as they improved to 9-6-2-1 and moved into a three-way tie with the Hershey Bears and Norfolk Admirals for second place overall in the East Division, all with 21 points. Binghamton remains in fifth place in the division, trailing all three teams by five points.
Mathieu Carle opened the scoring as he put the hometown Crunch on the board with a goal 1:20 into the game. Bonino doubled the lead for Syracuse with his first strike of the game coming at 8:36 of the opening period.
The Crunched added a pair of goals within the opening ten minutes of the second period. Jean-Francois Jacques scored at the five minute mark, before Bonino stretched Syracuse’s lead to 4-0 at 8:50. Carle was credited with the secondary assist on the goal earning his second point of the game.
With just 2:57 remaining in the second period, B-Sens blueliner Craig Schira net his first goal of the season.
After putting up just 13 shots through the first two periods of play, the Binghamton Senators equaled that shot total in the third period but failed to solve Iiro Tarkki, who improved to 6-4-1.
Robin Lehner tended goal for Binghamton stopping 38 of 42 shots as he fell to 4-7-1 on the season.
The B-Sens host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $18.50 for side seating, $17.50 for end seating.
