BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators scored three unanswered goals to sneak past the Adirondack Phantoms 4-3 on Sunday evening. The win is the second straight for the B-Sens on the weekend and the sixth straight against the Phantoms.
Jim O’Brien tallied a pair of goals, including the game winner, and added an assist while linemate Mike Hoffman earned three assists.
The B-Sens were quick to strike as Pat Cannone tipped a David Dziurzynski rebound into the
Adirondack net just 37 seconds into the game.
Former B-Sens’ captain Denis Hamel evened the score with a power play goal at 2:22. Jonathan Kalinski and Mike Testwuide added goals at 9:30 and 10:12 respectively to give the visiting Phantoms a 3-1 lead.
Binghamton would chip away at the deficit to tie the game by the first intermission. O’Brien and Stephane Da Costa capitalized on power play opportunities less than two minutes apart to knot the game at three.
The teams remained scoreless through the second period, but it only took 17 seconds in the final frame for the B-Sens to claim the lead as O’Brien potted his second power play tally of the evening and fourth goal of the weekend.
Mike McKenna started in goal for
Binghamton, making 32 saves as he improved to 11-12-0 on the season. Jason Bacashihua tended goal for the Phantoms, making 36 saves as he fell to 7-5-1.
The B-Sens were 3-for-7 on the power play, while
Adirondack was 1-for-3 with the man advantage.
The B-Sens are in action again on Friday, Jan. 27 as they host the Albany Devils at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $18.50 for side seating, $17.50 for end seating.
