ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators fell to the Rochester Americans, 3-1 in Friday night hockey action at the Blue Cross Arena.

David Leggio stopped 35 of the 36 shots he faced to hold the B-Sens to a single goal.

Paul Szczechura was the first to find the scoresheet as he backhanded home his 13th goal of the season, unassisted at 4:19 of the second to give Rochester a 1-0 lead.

The B-Sens answered as Craig Schira floated one in from the blue line at 9:08 to tie the game, 1-1. Pat Cannone and Derek Grant drew the assists on the play.

Luke Adam put the Amerks back out on top at 16:32 of the period. Adam walked in through the slot and slid one in under the left pad of Robin Lehner to give Rochester a 2-1 edge going into the second intermission.

Derek Whitmore made it 3-1 Amerks just past the midway point of the third period as he got a piece of Nick Crawford’s drive from the right point, tipping it past Lehner to give the Amerks a two-goal cushion.
