WILKES-BARRE, P.A. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins scored three unanswered goals to come from behind and defeat the Binghamton Senators 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
Penguins forward Ben Street scored a pair of second period goals and added an assist for three points in the game. Goaltender Scott Munroe made 24 saves to earn his 100th American Hockey League victory and remain perfect (5-0-0) against the B-Sens this season.
Binghamton jumped to a two-goal lead in the first period as Mark Parrish and Wacey Hamilton posted goals at 8:50 and 14:14 respectively.
Street knotted the game at two by the midway point of the second period, scoring goals just 4:21 apart. Street’s first goal of the afternoon came on the power play at 4:38. He added an even strength tally at the 8:59 mark of the period.
The Penguins would claim the lead for good at 12:28 of the third as Geoff Walker tipped a rebound in over a down and out Robin Lehner to give his team a 3-2 edge. Street drew the secondary assist on the goal.
Lehner made 34 saves as he fell to 9-19-1 on the season. With the victory Scott Munroe improves to 17-6-3 on the season.
Binghamton ended the afternoon 1-for-2 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The B-Sens return to action on Wednesday as they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $18.50 for side seating, $17.50 for end seating.
