Netminder Martin Gerber turned away 37 shots to lead the Binghamton Senators to a 2-1 win over the San Antonio Rampage on Thursday night at the AT&T Center.
 
The B-Sens got out to a quick start with an even-strength tally from Marc Cavosie just five minutes into the opening period. Newcomer Derek Couture netted his first point as a B-Sen with the assist. 
 
Binghamton defenseman Derek Smith buried the eventual game-winning goal late in the first off a feed from Matt Carkner. The B-Sens put 15 shots on net in the opening period to San Antonio’s 10.
 
Left-winger Jeff Hoggan put San Antonio on the scoreboard at the 5:40 mark of the middle period with his 18th goal of the season. The Rampage continued to press the B-Sens, outshooting Binghamton by a 19-5 advantage in the third period. Gerber turned away all 19 shots to secure two points for Binghamton. 
 
The B-Sens (24-15-3-3, 54 pts.) remains in Texas for a Friday contest against the Houston Aeros (21-19-1-7, 50 pts.) at 8:35 p.m. Tune into 680 WINR-AM or 1430 WENE-AM 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, Voice of the B-Sens.  Fans can also tune in to B-Sens’ games via webcast or streaming video cast at www.ahllive.com
