PENGUINS DOWN B-SENS, 3-1

The B-Sens put just 20 shots on net and scored on one of those attempts as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeated the B-Sens by a 3-1 final on Wednesday night at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.

Defenseman Brian Lee netted the lone goal of the night for Binghamton, striking for a 5-on-3 power-play goal in the opening period. Denis Hamel and Greg Mauldin assisted on the marker. 
 
Jeff Taffe evened the score in the second period with his 20th marker of the season. Nick Johnson tallied the game-winning goal for the Penguins. Johnson redirected an Alex Goligoski shot through traffic and past netminder Jeff Glass. The Penguins added a late empty-net goal to make it a 3-1 final.
 
Glass made 30 saves to earn second-star honors. 
 
The B-Sens (32-22-5-3, 72 pts.) take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (36-18-3-5, 80 pts.) on Friday night at 7 p.m. Tune into 680 WINR-AM or 1430 WENE-AM 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, Voice of the B-Sens.  Fans can also tune in to B-Sens’ games via webcast or streaming video cast at www.ahllive.com
