SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Despite out-shooting their opponents 45 to 29, the B-Sens dropped their sixth straight game to the Syracuse Crunch at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter.
The Crunch’s Jordan Lavalle-Smotherman scored his first goal of the season to give Syracuse the early lead at 3:28 of the first period.
At 3:30 of the second period, in his first game for the B-Sens, down on a 14-day conditioning assignment, Jesse Winchester ties the game at one and begins what would turn out to be a barrage of scoring in the period. Syracuse answered right back with a goal of their own two minutes and 23 seconds later as Alexandre Picard stuffed a rebound past Binghamton’s Mike Brodeur.
Syracuse took a 3-1 lead on Derek MacKenzie’s short handed goal off a slap shot at the 6:42 of the second period. The B-Sens would get a rebound goal of their own from Derek Smith at 8:17 of the second to crawl back to within one goal.
Josh Hennessy skated in and net the unassisted equalizer at 9:36 to end the scoring in the period and tie the game 3-3.
However, just 4:36 into the third period Tom Sestito scored the go ahead goal for the Crunch, sending the B-Sens home winless in six by a score of 4-3.
The B-Sens, seeking their first win since Oct. 9, will try again tomorrow, Oct. 24, as they travel to the Giant Center in Hershey to take on the Bears. The puck drops at 7:05 pm.
