BINGHAMTON, N.Y.– The Binghamton Senators hit the ice Saturday to host the Norfolk Admirals, seeking their second straight win of the 2010-11 season, but escaped the weekend with nothing more than a split as they fell to the Admirals by a score of 7-4.
Binghamton opened the scoring at 13:20 of the first period. B-Sens forward Corey Locke raced into the Admirals zone with the puck, sliding a pass to captain Ryan Keller who snipered a shot past Norfolk’s Dustin Tokarski to give the Senators a first period lead. Bobby Butler also earned an assist on the goal.
The Admirals evened the score 5:16 into the second period. Marc-Antoine Pouliot hit the B-Sens net on a pair of attempts, but Troy Milam would be the one to successfully pick up a rebound and push it past Barry Brust to get Norfolk on the board, tying the score 1-1.
Milam’s goal marked the start of an offensive storm. Norfolk added five additional goals in the period. Ty Wishart and Mike Agelidis each recorded one goal for the Admirals. Blair Jones notched a pair and Milam would also find the net a second time before the horn signaled the end of the second.
The B-Sens mustered some offense of their own in the second period of play as Jim O’Brien tallied a pair of goals, while Bobby Butler found the net for his second point of the game.
Adding insult to injury for Binghamton, Matt Fortunato would go on to score the seventh goal for Norfolk at 17:57 of the third, effectively sealing the fate of the Senators.
The B-Sens return to the ice Friday, Oct. 15 as they host the Hershey Bears. Tickets are $17.75 for side seating, $16.75 for end seating.
