TORONTO, ONTARIO – The Binghamton Senators snapped a three game losing streak Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Toronto Marlies in the first of ten American Hockey League matches to be broadcast on the CBC.
Barry Brust manned the pipes for Binghamton, earning first star honors as he stopped 41 of 42 Marlies shots faced to help lead his team to the 3-1 victory.
Ryan Keller put Binghamton on the board first, notching a power play goal with just 50 seconds remaining in the first stanza of play. Corey Locke was credited with the assist.
Colin Greening, product of Cornell University, recorded his first professional goal at 9:13 of the second period. Andre Benoit earned credit for the helper.
In the waning seconds of the game the Marlies goal sat empty as Jussi Rynnas was pulled in favor of the extra attacker. B-Sens forward Erik Condra spoiled any Toronto attempt to tie the game though, as he found the empty net with just 30 seconds left on the clock, off a feed from Kaspars Daugavins.
Brayden Irwin would be the lone Toronto player to record a goal.
The B-Sens hit the road again Friday, as they travel to the Xcel Center in Hartford to take on the Wolf Pack. Fans can listen live on 680 WINR-AM or 1430 WENE-AM beginning 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens.
