MANCHESTER, N.H. – Roman Wick scored his first professional hat trick and Barry Brust stopped 36 of 38 shots to help lead the Binghamton Senators to a 4-2 victory over the Atlantic Division leading Manchester Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena tonight.
Richard Clune put the Monarchs on the board first, netting his sixth of the season at 6:42 of the first period. Wick answered for Binghamton beating Martin Jones on a wrap around just 17 seconds later.
Wick gave the B-Sens their first lead of the game with 2:21 remaining in first, but Marc-Andre Cliche scored just 51 seconds later to send the teams to their respective dressing rooms for the first intermission tied at two.
Nearing the midway point of the second period Jones made the initial save on a Wick slapshot from the slot, sending it along the left wing boards. Corey Locke was there to feed it cross ice to Wick who then beat Jones glove-side for the lone goal of the period at 9:19. Mike Hoffman was also credited with an assist, his second of the game as he had assisted on Wick’s second tally in the first period.
The B-Sens added insurance in the final period of play as Ryan Keller tipped Derek Smith’s shot from the point into the Monarchs goal at 4:43 to put the B-Sens up, where they would stay, 4-2. Locke assisted on the tally as well, for his second helper of the night.
The B-Sens travel to Glens Falls, N.Y. on Wednesday, Jan. 26 where they will face the Adirondack Phantoms at 7 p.m. Fans can listen live on 680 WINR-AM or 1430 WENE-AM beginning 30 minutes before the game for Countdown to Face Off with Grady Whittenburg, voice of the B-Sens.
