GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators made their final trip of the regular season to the Glens Falls Civic Center Wednesday night to take on the Adirondack Phantoms in their lone divisional match-up this week.  With the Calder Cup playoff picture still in site for the B-Sens the team failed to gain any ground in the standings as they fell to the Phantoms 5-2.

Adirondack’s Michael Ryan set the tone for the game, snapping a shot from the left wing circle which beat a surprised Barry Brust with just five seconds remaining in the opening period to send the Phantoms off to the dressing room with a 1-0 lead.

The B-Sens tied the game just 2:16 into the second period.  After accepting a past from Derek Smith at the blue line, Corey Locke would feed the puck to Roman Wick who was park at the left wing face-off dot.  Wick rifled a shot past Michael Leighton on the power play to earn his 15th goal of the season and first of two in the game.

The Phantoms countered with back-to-back goals; both firsts for the players who scored them.  Harry Zolnierczyk, a product of Brown University who joined Adirondack last week on an amateur try-out contract, scored his first professional goal at 4:49 to put the Phantoms back on top.  Cullen Eddy net his first American Hockey League goal just 1:57 later to help put Adirondack ahead by two.

Wick’s second of the night came before the close of the second as he stripped the puck from the Adirondack defense before banging home a shorthanded tally at 11:12.

The Phantoms however, regained their composure, the two goal lead and then some with a pair of third period tallies. Tom Sestito picked up a rebound behind the Binghamton goal just past the midway point of the period, tapping the puck into the net off of Brust’s skate to put Adirondack up 4-2, while Ben Holmstrom added insult to injury with a shorthanded, empty net goal with just 1:24 left on the clock in regulation.

The B-Sens return home, where they host the Atlantic Division’s Portland Pirates on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $17.75 for side seating, $16.75 for end seating. Fans can purchase tickets at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or in person at the Binghamton Senators’ executive office or the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena box office.
