BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators will play on home ice this coming weekend in back-to-back contests. Friday night the Sens will welcome the Albany Devils followed by the Rochester Americans Saturday night with both contests beginning at 7:05p.m.
Friday will be the first of two consecutive nights the Broome Sports Foundation will hold a silent auction with proceeds benefitting the Foundation and the Tommy Mitchell Scholarship. Items available for fans to bid on along the main concourse will include various autographed sports memorabilia from both local teams and other professional franchises around the country as well as many items from “The Chicken Man” Hans Petersen’s personal collection. Winners of Friday’s items will be announced 10 minutes after the conclusion of the game.
Saturday night the Binghamton Senators will induct fan-favorite Denis Hamel into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony set to start at 7:00p.m. The first 3,000 fans through the gates will receive a commemorative Denis Hamel Hall of Fame photograph which they can have autographed on the concourse during first intermission.
Through his six seasons with the B-Sens Hamel played in 438 games recording 203 goals and 189 assists for 392 points, all of which are all-time Binghamton Senators records. Hamel also tops the B-Sens record books in power-play goals with 86, game-winning goals with 36 and shorthanded goals with 14.
Members of the New York State Lottery will be here on Saturday to hand out buy-one-get-one coupons to the first 500 fans 18-years and older.
Saturday night the Broome Sports Foundation will be back on the main concourse with a new slew of items for fans to bid on. The silent-auction will once again conclude 10 minutes after the game’s final horn.
