BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced today the full 2009-10 regular season schedule. (Download printable version here)
The B-Sens will open the season with a stretch of three games on home ice, which begins when they host the N.Y. Ranger’s AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. The 2009-10 B-Sens regular season schedule will conclude on the road, Sunday, April 11 at 3:05 p.m. at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, P.A. versus the Penguins.
The B-Sens are poised to face each team in the AHL’s Eastern Conference at least twice, including eight games against the defending Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears. The B-Sens and Bears meet for the first time Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7:05 p.m. in Binghamton. The B-Sens will face three teams in the Western Conference for games in the 2009-10 season; the Hamilton Bulldogs (two), Toronto Marlies (two) and Rochester Americans (ten).
Weekend games fill the majority of the B-Sens’ schedule again this season with 29 of the 40 home contests scheduled for a Friday (13) or Saturday (16). Sunday, Nov. 8 the B-Sens will host the Hamilton Bulldogs at 3 p.m. in Ottawa’s Scotiabank Place, home of their NHL affiliate Ottawa Senators. The game versus Hamilton is part of a two game weekend, in which Hamilton, the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, will host the B-Sens Friday, Nov. 6 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. In addition the B-Sens have six week night home games scheduled.
The B-Sens 2009-10 season schedule also features the three traditional and much anticipated holiday games. The Adirondack Phantoms come to town on Thursday, Nov. 26 for Thanksgiving, then return Saturday, December 26 for a post-Christmas game, while the Norfolk Admirals pay the B-Sens a visit Thursday, December 31 for New Year’s Eve.
March will be the busiest month of the season for Binghamton, as the club will play 16 games (five home, eleven road) in 31 days.
“We are pleased to be playing the majority of our home games on Friday and Saturday again this season,” said Senators’ executive vice president of operations, Tom Mitchell. “It is a terrific schedule and we’re looking forward to an exciting season of Binghamton Senators hockey.”
