B-SENS WEEKLY

LAST WEEK…

Wednesday, Nov. 4: Binghamton 2, Albany 0
Shots: Binghamton 23, Albany 25
PP: Binghamton 0 for 1, Albany 0 for 4

The B-Sens traveled to the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. kicking off a stretch of six road games. Mike Brodeur stopped all 25 shots he faced, helping to lead Binghamton to the 2-0 shutout victory. Cody Bass and Martin St. Pierre each found the net for the B-Sens.

Friday, Nov. 6: Binghamton 2, Hamilton 1
Shots: Binghamton 26, Hamilton 37
PP: Binghamton 1 for 2, Hamilton 1 for 8

The B-Sens squared off Friday night versus the Hamilton Bulldogs at Montreal’s Bell Centre; home of Hamilton’s NHL affiliate Montreal Canadiens. Ryan Keller scored his team leading seventh goal, while forward Jason Bailey scored his first American Hockey league goal, propelling the B-Sens to a 2-1 victory and handing the Bulldogs their first regulation loss of the season. P.K. Subban scored the lone goal for Hamilton. Brodeur manned the pipes for Binghamton once again, stopping 36 of 37 shots.

Sunday, Nov. 8: Binghamton 0, Hamilton 1
Shots: Binghamton 31, Hamilton 34
PP: Binghamton 0 for 6, Hamilton 0 for 7

The B-Sens wrapped up a busy weekend north of the border with a rematch versus the Bulldogs at Scotiabank Place, home of their NHL affiliate Ottawa Senators. Bulldogs goaltender Cedrick Desjardins stopped all 31 B-Sens shots on goal as Hamilton went on to blank Binghamton 1-0. Sergei Kostitsyn netted the game winner at 8:48 of the third period.

Record:5-6-2-0
Standings:The B-Sens are sixth place in the East division (twelve points)

THIS WEEK…

Tuesday, Nov. 10 @ Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning)
Wednesday, Nov. 11 @ Norfolk Admirals

The B-Sens face the East Division rival Norfolk Admirals for back-to-back games at the Scope this week. The Admirals are a leg up on Binghamton in the standings with 14 points, good enough for a tie with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for third place in the division. The B-Sens are hoping to put an end to Norfolk’s current four game win streak, but it could be an uphill battle as Binghamton has not faired well on Admirals’ home turf having gone 7-18-0-0-1 all-time at the Scope.

Friday, Nov. 13 @ Adirondack Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers)

Friday night, the B-Sens travel north to meet the Adirondack Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center for the first of ten matches between the teams. The former Philadelphia-based Phantoms overcame an eight point-deficit in the standings last season, to push past the B-Sens into the 2009 Calder Cup playoffs.

Saturday, Nov. 14 vs. Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings)

The Manchester Monarchs pay a visit to the B-Sens this coming Saturday. The game will be just the eleventh meeting between the two teams all-time. Manchester begins the week with a commanding lead in the Atlantic Division, having gone 9-3-1-1 in 14 games played for 20 points. The B-Sens could face Jonathan Bernier between the pipes for the Monarchs. Bernier begins the week ranked fourth among all AHL goaltenders having posted a 1.67 GAA and 0.953 save percentage in ten games of action.

SENS SNIPPITS

Goaltender Mike Brodeur was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 8. In three games played last week, Brodeur went 2-1-0, stopping 94 of 96 shots faced on his way to a 0.67 GAA and 0.979 save percentage.

Ryan Keller and Martin St. Pierre remained tied for the team lead in points. Keller (7 + 5) and St. Pierre (5 + 7) each currently have 12 points. The line-mates have contributed together on eight of the total 12 goals scored between the two.

Jason Bailey’s game winning goal in Montreal Nov. 6, was not only his first American Hockey League goal, but his first professional tally. In the 2008-09 season the Ottawa-native registered two assists, for two
points in 35 games played with Bakersfield of the ECHL and recorded no points in two games played with the Iowa Chops of the AHL.
