THIS WEEK…

Saturday, Dec. 26 vs. Adirondack Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers)

The B-Sens welcome the Adirondack Phantoms in a post holiday match. This will be the third of ten meetings between the teams this season. The B-Sens have defeated the Phantoms twice so far, outscoring Adirondack 12-0. Denis Hamel has been the most troublesome B-Sens forward for the Phantoms, scoring four of the 12 Binghamton goals.

Promotions: Fans in attendance of the game will receive B-Sens thunder sticks courtesy of Verizon Wireless.

Sunday, Dec. 27 @ Rochester Americans (Florida Panthers)

Sunday the B-Sens travel to Western New York to take on the Rochester Americans. All-time the B-Sens have the edge on the Amerks holding a record of 30-17-3-4-3, but red-hot Rochester has had Binghamton’s number this year. The Amerks have gone 2-1 versus the B-Sens in three games so far this season and will be seeking redemption after dropping their Nov. 28 match at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena 5-0. Martin St. Pierre led the offense versus Rochester in that Nov. 28 match recording a goal and three assists for his second four point game of the season.

SENS SNIPPITS

Defenseman Derek Smith earned the B-Sens nomination for Reebok/AHL player of the week for the week ending Dec. 20. Smith tallied two points this weekend, one goal and one assist versus the Norfolk Admirals. His goal proved to be the game winner Saturday night at the Scope. D. Smith leads all B-Sens defensemen in scoring with six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 26 games played. He is a plus-ten and currently has four multi-point games under his belt in the 2009-10 American Hockey League season.

Some familiar faces contributed to the B-Sens parent club Ottawa Senators in their 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild Saturday, Dec. 19. Mike Brodeur helped lead the Sens to victory stopping 22 shots for a .957 save percentage.  Also, defenseman Erik Karlsson notched his first National Hockey League goal.

The Binghamton Senators are selling tickets for the upcoming Outdoor Classic versus the Syracuse Crunch at the Grandstand at the New York State Fairground on Feb. 20, 2010. Tickets are $30 and $40. Fans can place their orders by calling the Binghamton Senators at 607-722-7367 or by visiting the B-Sens executive offices, located on the third floor of the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
