The B-Sens kicked off a stretch of five games in seven days as they hosted the Norfolk Admirals for the first of two matches between the two teams. The B-Sens fell behind 2-0 in the first period as Mitch Fadden and former B-Sen Brandon Bochenski each scored to give the Admirals the lead. Zack Smith tallied two goals for the B-Sens, while Erik Condra also had a two point night registering two assists. Jim O’Brien also scored for the Senators in the losing effort. Chris Holt started in goal stopping 39 of 43 shots.   
 
Friday, Feb. 26: Providence 6, Binghamton 4
Shots: Providence 45, Binghamton 40
PP: Providence 0 for 4, Binghamton 2 for 5
 
Josh Hennessy (one goal, two assists) and Martin St. Pierre (three assists), although putting up three point nights, were unsuccessful in helping to propel the Senators past the Bruins. Ryan Keller recorded a goal and an assist in the game. Other B-Sens goals came from Jonathan Cheechoo and Geoff Kinrade. Mike Brodeur took his turn between the pipes for Binghamton stopping 39 of 44 shots faced. The Bruins’ Jonathan Lammers scored a hat trick, while Zach Hamill recorded four points (four assists).
 
Saturday, Feb. 27: Norfolk 3, Binghamton 2 (shootout)
Shots: Norfolk 46, Binghamton 37
PP: Norfolk 0 for 3, Binghamton 0 for 2
 
The Admirals returned to Binghamton for a Saturday tilt. Zack Smith and Jim O’Brien each scored unassisted, helping to push the game into overtime 2-2. The game progressed to a shootout, where Denis Hamel would be the lone B-Sen to score on Norfolk net minder Dustin Tokarski. Blair Jones, who scored the game tying goal in regulation, scored the game winning goal for the Admirals in the shootout. Chris Holt tended the pipes for Binghamton stopping 43 of 45 shots in regulation, but only one of four shooters in the shootout.

Sunday, Feb. 28: Binghamton 3, Rochester 4 (overtime)
Shots: Binghamton 32, Rochester 27
PP: Binghamton 0 for 5, Rochester 0 for 6
 
The B-Sens travelled to the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. to take on the North Division’s Amerks, a team they have struggled against this season, having gone 2-5 in their first seven meetings. Derek Smith and Josh Hennessy each scored short handed goals, while Jonathan Cheechoo scored with just 42 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime. Jeff Taffe’s second goal of the game, at 3:40 of the overtime period helped lift Rochester to victory. Veteran Mike York recorded four assists for Rochester. Chris Holt started his second straight game in goal for the B-Sens stopping 23 of 27 shots.
 
Tuesday, March 2: Binghamton 1, Albany 6
Shots: Binghamton 22, Albany 28
PP: Binghamton 1 for 4, Albany 2 for 4
 
The River Rats routed the B-Sens in a rare 11 a.m. match up this Tuesday. Stefan Chaput (two goals, one assist) and Jerome Samson (one goal, two assists) led the offense for Albany each recording three points. Ryan Keller scored the lone B-Sens goal just 49 seconds into the second period on the power play. Derek Smith and Josh Hennessy assisted. Mike Morrison tended goal for the Rats stopping 32 of 33 Binghamton shots faced. His counter part, Andy Chiodo, fresh on recall from Elmira as Mike Brodeur sat out suffering from back spasms, did not fare as well. Chiodo played the full 60 minutes, stopping just 22 of 28 shots.   
 
Record:22-30-4-3
Standings:The B-Sens are seventh place in the East division (51 points)
 
THIS WEEK…
 
Wednesday, March 3 @ Lowell Devils (New Jersey Devils)
 
The B-Sens face Lowell for the second and final time in the 2009-10 season on Wednesday night. The Senators square off against the Devils in the midst of a four-game road stretch, while Lowell departs for a five-game stretch on the road following the match with the B-Sens.  When the teams last met, Jan. 8 the Devils won 3-2, with forward Brandon Svendsen scoring both B-Sens goals. The B-Sens are 0-3-0-0 all-time versus Lowell.
 
Friday, March 5 @ Springfield Falcons (Edmonton Oilers)
 
Friday night the B-Sens will square off against the Falcons. The two teams last met on Jan. 16 where Binghamton fell 5-2. Despite the loss, forward Ryan Keller had success versus Springfield recording both goals in the tilt. Entering this week the Falcons own a 20-32-9-2 record, for 52 points. They are one point ahead of the B-Sens for last place in the American Hockey League and currently rank eighth in the Atlantic Division.
 
Saturday, March 6 @ Adirondack Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers)
 
The B-Sens travel to Glens Falls, N.Y. for the eighth of ten meetings between these East Division foes on Saturday. Binghamton it looking to even the season series (which stands at 3-4-0-0) after dropping the last three games against Adirondack, the most recent being Feb. 17 as they fell 4-3. Josh Hennessy has been a pest for the Phantoms scoring three goals and five assists for eight points, while Adirondack leading scorer Jon Matsumoto has wreaked some havoc on the B-Sens defense and net minders recording two goals and four assists for six points.
 
Sunday, March 7 vs. Syracuse Crunch (Columbus Blue Jackets)
 
The B-Sens host the Syracuse Crunch, the final meeting between these two teams on Sunday. Syracuse has surged ahead of the B-Sens in the basement of the division. The Crunch holds on to sixth place in the division with 58 points (seven more than the B-Sens currently) and trail the fifth place Adirondack Phantoms by only two. Hennessy leads the offensive charge against the Crunch tallying five goals and three assists for eight points. Twenty different Crunch players have tallied points against the Binghamton Senators; however Jared Aulin leads them all with only three goals and two assists for five points.  
 
SENS SNIPPITS   
 
Josh Hennessy earned the nod as the B-Sens’ nominee for Reebok/AHL Player of the week. In four games last week Hennessy recorded two goals and three assists for five points.  His shorthanded goal versus Rochester, Sunday Feb. 28 was his third of the season, giving him the team lead in shorthanded goals.  Hennessy enters the month of March ranked third overall in the B-Sens in scoring; 21 goals + 23 assists for 44 points in 57 games played.
 
Meanwhile, Martin St. Pierre earned the nod at the B-Sens’ nominee for AHL Player of the Month for February. St. Pierre recorded three goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 13 games in the month of February.  The centre notched four multi-point games in the month, including a three point night (three assists) Feb. 26 versus Providence (a 6-4 B-Sens loss).  St. Pierre had a six game scoring streak during the month, from Feb. 14 vs. Rochester to Feb. 26 vs. Providence.  St. Pierre enters March ranked first overall on the B-Sens in points; 17 goals, 35 assists for 52 points in 56 games. 
 
Cody Bass played in his 100th game as a Binghamton Senator on Feb. 26 vs. Providence.
