SENATORS RE-ASSIGN GOALTENDER ROBIN LEHNER TO BINGHAMTON

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 1, 2010) - The

Ottawa Senators

today re-assigned goaltender Robin Lehner to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Lehner was recalled on an emergency basis for the first time this season on Oct. 16 to replace an injured Pascal Leclaire.

Lehner, 19, served as back-up to Brian Elliott during his seven games with the Senators. He made his NHL debut against Montreal on Oct. 16, stopping all three shots in the first 4:42 minutes of the third period, while Elliott replaced his broken skates. Lehner also came in to replace Elliott on Oct. 18, making seven saves on as many shots in the final 29:28 of a 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

A native of Goteborg, Sweden, Lehner made his regular-season AHL debut while making 28 saves in the B-Sens' 7-1 loss to the visiting Hershey Bears on Oct. 15.

The 6-3, 220-pound Lehner was the Senators' second of two second-round picks (46th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the 2009-10 campaign with the Ontario Hockey League's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, with whom he compiled a record of 27-12-0-3 (with five shutouts) in 47 games. Lehner also made his professional debut with Binghamton on April 9, 2010, in a 6-5 win over the Adirondack Phantoms.

The B-Sens play their next game Friday, Nov. 5, against the Hamilton Bulldogs at Montreal's Bell Centre. Binghamton is in fifth place in the AHL's East Division with four wins, three losses, one overtime loss and one shootout loss.
